Here are the top three stories today in Albuquerque:

  1. As part of an effort to add 5,000 housing units by 2025, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller announced plans to convert hotels that will overall house up to 1,000 people. The city will host an informal meeting to discuss the plans on Tuesday, Dec. 6th (KOAT New Mexico)
  2. Albuquerque native Elena Baca was named Museum Education Art Educator of the Year. The award honors educators in museum education for their dedication and contributions to the field. Baca currently works at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. ()
  3. The ABQ Biopark welcomed its first new penguin chick since the penguin exhibit opened in 2019. After closing in October due to the risk of avian flu, the penguin exhibit is once again open to the public with limited access. (KRQE)
