🎄 The Worst Christmas Songs?
Christmas is around the corner. Songs of the season are everywhere. However, some tunes are better than others. Last year, Rolling Stone compiled a list of the worst Christmas songs of all time. Which song is the one that is the worst in your book? So far, we have:

  • NewSong, ‘The Christmas Shoes’ – 50%
  • Seth MacFarlane and Sara Bareilles, ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ – 25%
  • Band Aid, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ – 25%

📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

1) On Sunday evening, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) received a call regarding shots fired at the 2500 block of Santa Fe Avenue. Reportedly, “a male adult suspect patronizing a business entered into a verbal dispute with a male adult victim that escalated when the suspect threatened the victim with a knife, discharged a firearm.” The suspect ran away before law enforcement arrived. There were no injuries. (LBPD)

2) The City has tentatively approved two sites, Shoreline Park or the ends of the Civic Center Complex, for a physical COVID-19 memorial. On Friday, the City called for artists to submit their proposals! Be sure to “depict healing while capturing the lasting impacts of the pandemic and offer a snapshot of the future.” Remember to also “celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of essential workers.” You have until December 6 to submit your proposal through the Long Beach Buys vendor portal. (Long Beach Post)

3) on saturday, Nine low-income families moved into their own Millennium Homes. The townhomes are located on 14th Avenue between Pine and Pacific avenues. This project was made possible, in part, through the generosity of Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles. “The development site consists of 10 two-story Craftsman-style townhomes; each one features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and attached two-car garages.” Welcome home! (Long Beach Post)

4) When was the last time you visited the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA)? If it’s been a while, now is a great time to come back! A new MOLAA exhibit features the works of 14 artists exploring “the symbolism of the Virgin de Guadalupe through their work.” Called, “Guadalupe – Queen of the Water, Mother of the Land of the Dead,” you can see the artwork at 628 Alamitos Avenue. Here is an insider tip: admission is free on Sundays! (Signal Hill Tribune)

5) Small Business Saturday is on November 26th! You find participating businesses along “Retro Row, Shoreline Village, The Pike Outlets, Towne Center, Downtown, Bixby Knolls, Belmont Shore, and 2nd & PCH.” There will be plenty of deals and specials for Shop Small Saturday. We already know that the Long Beach Creamery will offer 20% off during its pint chip sale. The Historical Society offers a gift to anyone making a purchase over $50. LB Swag is prepared to sell Christmas tree ornaments for $20. At the Tenni-Moc’s Shoe Store, there’ll be a prize wheel, raffles, and hot cocoa. (Press Telegram)
