In the first year without a valedictorian or salutatorian award, 463 Santa Fe High School seniors graduated on Tuesday, May 31 at Dick Torres Memorial Stadium.
The positions of summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude were created to replace the valedictorian and salutatorian honors. All are based on grade point average.
Thirteen Summa Cum Laude honors were handed out at the graduation ceremony.
Also, a new Board of Trustees Award was created. The winner was Rebecca Bello, who plans to attend UC Davis as a biology major.
Also held on the same night at Sandra Sanchez Thorstenson Stadium were graduation ceremonies for Sierra Vista and Frontier high schools and Whittier Union Adult School.
There were 250 Sierra Vista graduates; 140 frontier graduates; and 80 Adult School graduates.
