Clois Richardson Obituary (1930 – 2022) – Bowie, TX

Clois Burton Richardson, 91 of Benbrook, TX passed away Thursday, July 7th, 2022.
Family will receive friends at the White Family Funeral Home on Sunday, July 10th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM
A graveside service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX on Monday, July 11th at 10:00 AM
Clois was born on December 28, 1930, in Bowie, Montague County, TX to the late Carl B. Richardson and Jocie E. Prince. He and his family lived in Ryan, Oklahoma for many years. He attended and graduated from Ryan High School. He attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma for one semester. Clois joined the Air Force in 1950 and was an Air Police. He served in Japan during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in September 1954. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Services Medal – UN Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Clois moved back to Bowie and worked with the family dairy business. He moved to Farmington, New Mexico and worked at Haliburton.
Clois met Peggy Long and married her on January 31, 1956. They started their married life in Farmington, NM. They moved back to Texas. He was a man of many talents. He ran a dairy farm, he owned a hardware store, he was an insurance salesman, he was a security guard at General Dynamics, he was a bookkeeper, and he owned a parking lot sweeping company. He retired in 1995.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bowie, TX. He earned his 50 year + Masonic pin. He was a member and was the president of the Lion’s Club in Benbrook, TX. He and Peggy belonged to the Ramblin’ Rangers Camping Club. He held several offices within the club. He loved to travel and experience new places.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Royce Richardson, Joe Richardson and Jerry Richardson and a great granddaughter Taylor Weber.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Peggy Richardson, a daughter, Carla Gurley and her husband Rick of Bixby, Oklahoma and a son, Mark Richardson and his wife Patti, of Freeport, TX; six grandchildren, Aaron Gurley and his wife Mary of Olathe, KS, Geramy Mays and his wife Kristi of Azle, TX, Jared Gurley and his wife Ashley of Hudson Oaks, TX, Emily Weber and her husband Kolby of Nocona, TX, Hilary Montague and her husband Corbin of Hutto, TX, and Jesse Richardson of Austin, TX. Survivors also include twelve great grandchildren with one on the way, as well as several nieces and nephews.
