Albuquerque honors Giovanni’s Pizzeria owner in Balloon Glow

A group in Albuquerque honored the life of Rosario Zito on Dec. 24. Zito owned Giovanni’s pizzeria. Dana Zito is Rosario Zito’s wife. Rosario was shot and killed on Aug. 30. “It makes my heart so happy to be out here together. I just feel energized. What keeps me going are friends and family,” said Zito. On Christmas Eve, Albuquerque supported the Zito family while balloons filled the sky. It was the 34th anniversary of the event. Todd Kersting was one of the organizers and Rosario’s brother-in-law.”Todd has stepped in and has been my backbone ever since Rosario passed,” said Zito.”This year, the event hit home with our family,” This is the first holiday season that the Zito family will be without Rosario. “I’ve always thought about the empty chair every year,” said Kersting.”On Christmas eve, It’s not an empty chair, I feel. I could just feel that his arms were wrapped around everybody. So we are so thankful for all the support,” Zito said.
