Albuquerque store owner and employees arrested following alleged shooting

An Albuquerque convenience store owner and two employees are facing charges following an alleged shooting at the store.Albuquerque Police Department responded to shots fired at Adam’s Food Mart convenience store early Monday morning. An officer approached a vehicle of interest, but the car fled the scene following the approach, according to the criminal complaint. The driver, identified as Joshua Apodaca, continued to lead them on a car chase that left several APD unit vehicles damaged at an intersection . Apodaca made it to his parents’ home, where he was eventually taken into police custody. Video footage from an APD surveillance camera showed store owner Mohammed Khala shooting at Apodaca’s vehicle several times, including twice at the tires as he tried to make his escape. After the shooting, the video showed employees Audrey Sullivan and Edgerin Wynn pick up shell casings off the ground from the shooting, according to the criminal complaint. All three employees were taken into APD custody. Wynn told police that Sullivan told him ‘she would buy him a cheeseburger’ if he picked up the shell casings. The two employees were charged with tampering with evidence charges. Khala was charged with shooting at a motor vehicle along with reckless use of a firearm.
