Albuquerque Unveils Air Quality Monitoring Trailer

On Thursday, Keller and the city’s air quality program unveiled the first and only trailer for monitoring air quality. It will collect localized air quality data across the metro area.

“The devices will not only measure the pollutants, but also the pollution from diesel exhaust gases and wood burning as well as 75 dangerous air pollutants. that are volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, ”said Mara Elana Burstein, the city’s environmental director.

The trailer is parked in various neighborhoods to collect this data, especially from those with air pollution concerns. The San Jose neighborhood was selected first.

“We hope that we will have the support we need to improve our community and not only improve the health problems we face from air pollution, but also open a door to improve our neighborhood,” said Deanna Barela , President of the San Jose Neighborhood Association.

In order to collect accurate data, the trailer must be parked in one place for at least 12 months. Then it is checked whether the trailer should be parked there or somewhere else.
