Amazon is hiring for 1,000 jobs with a sign-up bonus

Amazon said in a statement Friday that the entry fee will be $ 15.50 per hour plus a $ 1,000 sign-up bonus.

“Amazon announced these positions a while ago, but now they have opened it to people who want to apply by the end of September to qualify for the sign-up bonus,” said Carla Sonntag, president of the New Mexico Business Coalition

The city of Albuquerque also announced sign-up bonuses earlier this month to help attract more applicants, and other businesses in the city have some changes to make

“We see companies that work partially or with limited or limited working hours because they do not get enough employees,” said Sonntag.

So is Amazon getting its 1,000 employees?

“Not in the foreseeable future, because there is now considerable competition for employees and it was very challenging,” said Sonntag.

The UNM Bureau of Business and Economic Research – has shown how much employment has declined over the past year – and they predict that we won’t see similar employment levels before 2026.

Sunday said she believed it was the additional federal unemployment benefits due to expire next week on September 3rd – but she said it could take longer.

“President Biden has authorized governors to use some federal funds they receive for other purposes to expand this further, and we have not yet heard from the governor what position she will take or whether she will actually let it expire if” that’s it, ”said Sonntag.

In the meantime, employers like Amazon are still trying to hire as many people as possible – as quickly as possible.

According to Amazon, candidates can learn more at www.amazon.com/abqjobs or sign up to receive job notifications by texting ABQNOW to 77088. The shift schedules can vary.
