APD: There were 66 fatal accidents reported in Albuquerque this year, many of them speeding-related

According to new data from Albuquerque Police, between October 4 and 10, 12,000 drivers were caught traveling at speeds above 80 km / h and more than 400 at speeds above 40 km / h.

According to the APD, several drivers were driven at speeds over 160 km / h, including one person who was caught at a speed of 140 km / h.

Montgomery isn’t the only troubled street, however, APD also placed a device on Gibson. From October 1 to October 10, 42% of drivers were caught driving faster than 80 km / h – 10 miles above the top speed. Another 7,000 were seen traveling at 65 mph or faster. One driver was even clocked at 111 mph.

“Gibson is also a very busy expressway. The Air Force is right there, there are medical facilities, a lot of people drive this road, so it’s very worrying, “Atkins said.

APD said there were requests to install the devices on Coors and Eubank – two other areas known for speeding.

“We’re just really hoping to limit the number of accidents, the number of fatalities that we see, you know, speeding kills people,” Atkins said.
