This year’s ArtsThrive Exhibition and Benefit, organized by the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, features 389 individual works of art, including paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, and more. The event, which begins October 7th, will help support the Albuquerque Museum and local artists.

By presenting their work to new audiences and potential collectors, the event brings lesser-known artists to the fore. This year, the foundation hopes to raise $ 270,000, nearly a fifth of the organization’s estimated FY22 revenue. After accounting for all expenses and payments to artists, the foundation hopes to raise approximately $ 120,000 net to support the Albuquerque Museum staff, programs, and exhibits.

The magic bus

The Albuquerque Museum uses the ArtsThrive exhibition and events to raise funds for a variety of programs and exhibitions. Proceeds from the exhibition and the Collectors’ Dinner event will support the Magic Bus Education Program, which covers the cost of over 10,000K through 12 students in our community to combine with art and history exhibitions at the Albuquerque Museum annually. The program gives many disadvantaged children the opportunity to visit a museum. By providing free buses and takeaway art activities, and helping create instructor-led video tours, the foundation receives an unparalleled educational resource for the community.

TThe importance of art programs

Andrew Rodgers, Executive Director and CEO of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, said, “The arts are not only personally fulfilling and nurturing, but also a powerful tool for social change. For example, studies have shown that low-income students who are heavily involved in the arts have five times lower dropout rates than their peers, are 100 points higher on the SAT, and are twice as likely to graduate from college. And art-rich communities have 18 percent less serious crime and 14 percent fewer reports of abuse and neglect. ”The Albuquerque Museum’s Magic Bus program and educational initiatives aim to level the playing field for K-12 students and provide access and To offer opportunities that they would otherwise not have.
