Brush fire briefly closes southbound I-25 near Santa Fe, one lane reopened

Both lanes of Old Las Vegas Highway still closed in that area

One lane of southbound traffic on I-25 near Santa Fe has opened near exit 290, after a brush fire ignited Saturday afternoon. All lanes of Old Las Vegas highway are still shut down in that area. A spokesman for Santa Fe County Fire Department says the fire broke out around 12:30 pm Saturday. The fire has burned three acres and appears to be a wind driven event. Santa Fe Fire and Santa Fe County Fire crews are on the scene, along with New Mexico Forestry and US Forestry. No evacuations have been ordered, and there are no injuries. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, if possible.
