Centennial High School drama students surprise the Las Cruces server with a tip of $ 300

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico – When the Centennial High School drama teacher learned his kids were going to have a bite to eat after their show, he had some advice.

“The only thing I can remember telling you is, ‘Be nice to your waiters!'” Said Darin Cabot. “I used to work in the restaurant business. I’m an actor, you know? “

After their performance on the 22nd, the kids went to the Village Inn on Telshor Boulevard in Las Cruces. They were shocked at the generosity of a student’s aunt who collected the bill for the whole group.

That gave Ashton Taylor an idea.

“I was like, ‘Hey guys, since we don’t have to pay for our food and drinks, let’s put whatever we spent in a tip,” Taylor told ABC-7.

The group was immediately enthusiastic about the idea. When Taylor collected the money, he found that he could give $ 300 to the server.

“I was a little overwhelmed because I wasn’t expecting so much!” said Taylor.

“We’re not an easy group!” Laughed Axel Hale, a junior in the program. “I am so incredibly proud to be a member of the Centennial Theater. They are one of the best groups you can imagine yourself in. “

The kids wanted to thank their server for his incredible service and “swag” while he served the large group. According to a Village Inn spokeswoman, the server did not want to be identified. Still, the children were grateful.

“His general kindness to our group has been incredible,” said Hale.
