Children ages 5 to 11 line up for COVID vaccine in Santa Fe

“As soon as we heard it was available, I looked into different ways to get her vaccinated and heard from other people that it was available at pharmacies or at NMDOH and here at St. Vincent today,” said Jennifer Cramer, mom .

Families wait patiently in line to get their vaccines, some more excited than others

“I am very excited and want the whole world to get a vaccine so that we can forget about COVID or at least be weakened to the point that we can take these masks off,” said Gabriel Cramer.

“I was surprised that I would get vaccinated because I thought only adults could be vaccinated,” said Johnny Martinez.

Families went to the clinic one by one. When they got the vaccine, they were also reassured.

“To be honest, I’m very excited and really happy that we got the opportunity to get him vaccinated today. I wanted to get him vaccinated to protect my younger ones, ”said Monica Martinez, mother.

The children didn’t think it was that bad

“At first I was a bit scared, but when I got the shot I only felt slightly hurt, but it didn’t really hurt,” said Gabriel.

This coming weekend, St. Vincent will have 400 more shots available and they said they will add more as soon as they get cans.

But the clinic said it plans to hold these vaccination campaigns for children on weekends in case the children experience symptoms, they don’t miss school, and their parents don’t have to stop working.
