A long tradition continues.

The Luminaria Tour returns after a hiatus in 2020.

The annual tour was launched in 1955 by the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce for hotel and motel guests.

The city took over most of the tour in 1965, then entirely in the late 1970s.

“After a year without this special event, it feels great to be able to welcome the Luminaria Tour again,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “I am grateful to everyone in the city, neighborhood and many partners who have worked so hard to ensure that families can enjoy this unique Albuquerque experience together.”

This year’s tour takes place on Friday, December 24th and starts and ends at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The tour goes through the old town, the country club and the neighborhoods of Huning Castle.

Ticket sales begin on Saturday, December 11th at 10 a.m. at luminariatour.com.

Tour times are scheduled at 5:30 pm; 5:50 pm; 6:10 pm; 6:45 pm; 7:05 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.

This year’s theme of the tour is “A Storybook Christmas”.

“We look forward to continuing the tradition this year,” said Stephanie Dominguez, Interim Transit Director of ABQ RIDE. “ABQ RIDE is also working hard to ensure that this is not only a fun and festive event, but also a safe tour for our passengers.”

To get the most out of the tour, drivers are advised to arrive no later than 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Masks are required for passengers waiting at the Albuquerque Convention Center and those aboard the buses during the tour. When outdoors, social distancing is highly recommended.

Parking in the Eastside parking garage of the Convention Center at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and on Broadway is free. Free parking is also available for the disabled and those with special needs in the parking lot on the northwest corner of 3rd Street and Marquette Avenue (north of Civic Plaza).

Parking under the Civic Plaza is also free.

For your own safety, please follow the signs to the Luminaria Tour. Participants are not allowed to enter the Convention Center from 3rd Street or 2nd Street.

Please note that all tickets for the Luminaria Tour are sold on luminariatour.com, third party ticket providers selling tickets are not part of the tour and are not allowed on the premises.
