Compton’s 90221 Celebrates With ‘Date Meets Zip’ Commemorative Postmark – CBS Los Angeles

COMPTON (CBSLA) – Compton, where are you? On Thursday, the city celebrated 90221, which happened to be the date – September 2, 2021.

The US Post Office on South Santa Fe Avenue celebrated the clash of numbers on Thursday with a special “Date Meets Zip” event. Post employees distributed a specially designed postmark and franked envelopes to customers.

“It’s just one more opportunity to connect with our customers and let them know we’re doing our best,” said Carla Player-Rowe of the Postal Service. “Of course, last year, our second year of the pandemic, it was a lot of stress for everyone, everyone.”

The South Santa Fe Avenue Post Office will be distributing these memorial letters and postcards for the next 30 days.

But Compton residents should keep in mind that this won’t be the last moment of Date Meets Zip. Compton is also home to 90222, 90223, and 90224 so the city can mark these numerical milestones for the next three years.
