Obituary for Curtis Ivan Huntzinger
Curtis was born on August 2, 1951 in Farmington, New Mexico to Ralph and Cecile Huntzinger. Hey what
the 5th of 7 children. He graduated from Hayward High School in California, and then attended Brigham
YoungUniversity. He and his wife, Ruth, first met at a family wedding reception, when they were 16
years old. They got reacquainted years later when they were in the same ward at BYU, after Ruth was
widowed, with a child. He and Ruth were married in July 1977. His greatest joy in life was his wife.
Growing up Curtis developed a love for nature. He studied birds extensively. He loved fishing and
hunting. He had a thirst for knowledge. He loved reading his older siblings school books as well as the
family’s set of Encyclopedias. He learned many skills from his dad which served him his whole life. hey
Enjoyed working hard on projects of every kind, plumbing, electrical, welding, and woodworking to
name a few. Woodworking was his profession and favorite.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and Curtis enjoyed finding items that needed some tender
loving care. He repaired them and found them a new home. Even Ukrainian refugees were benefactors
of his skills.
He strived to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Later day Saints. He served a 2 year mission in England. He served as the Bishop of a Mid-Singles
Ward. In spite of having many health issues in his entire life, he didn’t complain, and was happy to serve
wherever called. He loved talking to people and he made everyone feel special. He memorized the
children s names in his ward and brought them little gifts that he had stashed in his suit pockets.
