ALBUQUERQUE – Albuquerque police have charged Jeremiah Anderson, 24, with child molestation (without resulting in major assault).
In late November, officials were posted to an apartment for three videos showing a man severely beating a child in a house. The family said they received the videos from the child’s mother and they were said to have been recorded about three months earlier.
The child was found safely with his mother and taken to the UNMH for a precautionary examination.
After further investigation, the detectives checked the videos recorded during home surveillance showing a man punching the child with a closed fist several times. Through further investigation and interviews, the man was identified as Jeremiah Anderson, the child’s father.
On December 7, 2021, Anderson willingly came to the Albuquerque Police Department to give an interview in which he said he was drinking too much at the time and taking out his anger on the child over custody issues. He admitted that he would “occasionally lose his nerve” and hit the child in a similar manner.
Anderson was arrested and is on remand at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
