Fresno State lands in Albuquerque ahead of the NM Bowl

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A strong storm system will move to New Mexico overnight, bringing high winds and opportunities for snow to parts of the state. There is a potential for potentially damaging gusts of wind in eastern New Mexico.

Moisture pouring in ahead of our next storm system brought light rain and mountain snow to parts of central New Mexico, including Albuquerque, tonight. A cold front will advance into western New Mexico after midnight, part of a strong storm system that will emerge on Wednesday. In the short term, heavy snowfall is concentrated along the frontline, mostly over northwest New Mexico into the San Juan Mountains. Strong winds will accompany the front, resulting in blowing snow and limited visibility. It will continue to snow into the wee hours of the morning in the northern mountains of New Mexico, and in the evening there is a chance of light snow on the I-40 corridor in western New Mexico, along with the upper Rio Grande Valley all the way down to Santa Fe and the East Mountains. Moisture won’t make it through the central mountain range.
