The trial of the man accused of murdering a University of New Mexico baseball player continues today with witnesses from the night Jackson Weller died. Weller’s teammates told the jury that they went to the bars after their Nob Hill game. A teammate says he left first and then received the call that Weller was shot. Prosecutors say Darian shot Bashir Weller as an act of revenge after Weller argued with some of Bashir’s friends. They explain that Bashir fled the scene and asked his girlfriend to hide his license plate from the car he was in. Bashir’s lawyers claim Bashir shot Weller because he felt threatened.

Albuquerque Police are looking for an SUV that fled the scene this morning. Police say a man was shot dead around 5 a.m. at Motel 6 near I-25 and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Witnesses said they heard a brawl and then gunshots. Officials say a dark SUV, possibly a brand of Nissan, escaped from the scene. An investigation is ongoing to find the driver.
