Hyundai reveals specs and pricing for hybrid Santa Fe

Hyundai has introduced the 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid, which is set to join its Australian model line-up later this month. Powered by a potent and efficient turbo petrol paired with an electric hybrid system driving all four wheels, it’s priced from $63,000 plus on-roads.

A new six-seater interior option, with second row captain’s chairs, for the range-topping Highlander is also on the table for the hybrid variant, with it, and the Elite both wearing exclusive aero-type 19-inch machine faced alloy wheels.

Under the hood is a 1.6-litre T-GDi hybrid powertrain, paired with a 44.2kW ​​electric motor. The petrol/electric hybrid system delivers muscular combined outputs of 169kW and 350Nm.

As well as providing a smooth, quiet and eco-friendly driving experience, Santa Fe Hybrid produces more power than the 2.2 CRDi and greater torque than the 3.5 MPi. The hybrid powertrain is paired with a newly developed 6-speed automatic transmission.

“The addition of Santa Fe Hybrid, and a new six-seater option, brings renewed appeal in this latest evolution of our ever-popular large SUV,” Hyundai Motor Company Australia CEO Ted Lee said.

“A favorite of Australian families, Santa Fe continues to deliver an alluring combination of style, space, luxury and technology, now with the performance and efficiency benefits of a hybrid powertrain.”

Combined fuel economy is 6.0-litres/100km, although it does cop a reduction in braked towing capacity to 1,650kg. The Highlander will be priced at $69,550 plus on-roads, and both hybrid offerings are just $3,000 dearer than the diesel equivalent.

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometer warranty, and up to 10 years of roadside support and satellite navigation updates. There is an 8-year 160,000km warranty on the high voltage battery.
