Jury seat for Arizona murder against US aviators

Opening statements in the case of a US Air Force aviator charged with the shooting of a Mennonite woman begin Friday.

Mark Gooch faces life imprisonment if convicted of first-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Sasha Krause. She was collecting materials for Sunday school in a Mennonite ward in Farmington, New Mexico when she disappeared early last year. Her body was found in Flagstaff, Arizona, more than a month later. Gooch says he was near Farmington when Krause went missing because he was looking for Mennonite churches for the fellowship. But he told investigators that he didn’t kidnap or kill her.
