Kathleen Winslow Obituary (2022) – Albuquerque, WA

Albuquerque – Kathleen Marie Winslow died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from a stroke on April 30, 2022, at age 74, following years of treatment for neuroendocrine cancer.

Kathleen was a beloved mother and grandmother, daughter and sister, aunt and friend. She was born to Orville and Theresa (Hines) Winslow in Bremerton, Washington, in 1947, the second of three daughters. Her grandparents were Conde and Lou (Helgeson) Winslow and Martin Hines and Ethel (Donahoe) Wilcox

Kathleen’s early years were spent in rural Washington until the family relocated to New Mexico, where her father had been recruited to work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She was educated in the public schools there and went on to the University of New Mexico where she earned an undergraduate degree in biology, and then a law degree. After leaving the practice of law, she moved on to found the successful financial advice firm, Winslow Wood & Associates, from which she had retired.

Kathleen enjoyed a very full life. She cared deeply about social and economic justice issues that affected the lives of women and cultivated a wide circle of close friends. She brimmed with energy and curiosity; she lived the life that she wanted.

Kathleen was predeceased by her father in 2015 and her mother in 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Keeney (Aaron Nix-Gomez) and granddaughter Lorelei. Also surviving are her sisters Mary Winslow and Laura Burr. She was the beloved aunt of Tony White (Judith Wallace), Steve White (Anna) and Dylan Gilbert (Erica), and Ann Adams, and six nieces and nephews. Our hearts are broken. She left us all too soon.
