Lake Gibson falls; weather forces postponements

PLANTATION — Despite taking a 42-14 loss to one of the better teams in the state this year, Lake Gibson head coach Rich Pringle was able to find some positives.

The Braves (1-1) didn’t quit and their defense was able to stop the Patriots (3-0) at times, but in the end too many mistakes did in Lake Gibson.

“We didn’t execute,” Pringle said. “We had two pretty open touchdown passes that we didn’t connect on and then we had some busted coverages on the first two drives after we had them on third and long. There were mental mistakes you can’t make, but it’s better that we make them early in the year than late. There was some good stuff that we did, but it was too little too late.”

Lake Gibson quarterback Jackson Akins accounted for both of his team’s touchdowns as he ran one score in and found Tyson Gast for another score through the air.

On defense, the Braves forced two interceptions with Dilyon Link and Jaylen Foster both grabbing picks.

Lake Gibson will look to rebound next Friday on the road at Lehigh.
