Las Cruces man arrested for murder

Jimmy Levi Rogers, 29, of Las Cruces was held in the third district court without Bond. Aguilera is charged with 1 open count of murder, conspiracy to murder, manipulation of evidence, and conspiracy to commit (manipulation of evidence). District Court Judge Driggers ruled that Rogers was dangerous and that no release conditions would adequately protect the safety of the community. Rogers will remain in the Doña Ana County Detention Center awaiting trial. The third attorney general, Bryan Glecki, represented the state.

Las Cruces police officers were dispatched to several 911 calls to report a victim was shot near the intersection of Lohman and Walnut. Officers found 40-year-old Ezekiel Diaz with a gunshot wound on the floor near the driver’s door. Despite life-saving efforts, Diaz died on the scene. Several witnesses at the crime scene were able to identify the alleged vehicle and in which direction it was going. Video surveillance footage of nearby commercial buildings showed the suspicious vehicle and the incident. The investigators interviewed several people who know the suspects.
