Laura Patricia “Lucero” Garcia

We are sad to announce the passing of Laura Patricia “Lucero” Garcia. She left us on Friday, May 13th, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren after a brief illness. She was the most beautiful person inside and out and was deeply loved by her family and extended family. She was born to Perfilio and Predicanda Lucero in Moquino, New Mexico. She grew up in Seboyeta/Moquino until the family relocated to Albuquerque in the early 1940s. Tragically, her father Perfilio was taken from them shortly after moving to Albuquerque when she was only 12 years old. She lived the rest of her life with a broken heart over the loss of her dad. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950 and went on to meet and marry the love of her life; Richard Garcia on April 12th, 1952. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard W. Garcia Sr. and her four children, Richard W. Garcia II and his wife Loyann Garcia, Mark Anthony Garcia, Patrick Garcia and his wife Pamela Garcia, and Lauralynn Garcia. Her 14 grandchildren, Richard III, Noel, Alec, Nicole, Eden, Trevor, Logan, Emma, ​​Nolan, Mark, Kayden, Ryenne and McKaylynn and 1 great grandchild, Aalia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she adored and loved as if they were her own children.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Perfilio and Predicanda Lucero. Her beloved brothers, Ernest, Joe, and Christopher Lucero. Her beloved sisters, Rose Marquez, and Fella Stockham. Her granddaughter, Janine Pino. She is also preceded in death by her beloved nephews Perfilio “Porfy”, Eddie, Ronald and Renny as well as her niece Patti.

She will be deeply missed by so many, and we look forward to the day when we will see her again.

A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 7:00pm at the FRENCH-Wyoming Chapel and her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 11:00am at Sangre De Cristo Parish, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE Burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 2:00pm.
