Margaret Herrington Obituary (1943 – 2022) – Albuquerque, NM

Margaret “Peggy” Diane Herrington passed away on July 3, 2022. Peggy was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She lived in San Diego and Seattle as a young adult, and she moved back to Albuquerque in the 1970s to pursue higher education. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico. She had two children, both born at the Presbyterian Hospital on Central, the same hospital where she was born on April 7, 1943.

She worked in the fields of technology and writing. Over 500 of her features, cover stories, interviews, and reviews were published in computer magazines. She edited General Electric’s GEnie magazine. She also worked at Microsoft as a producer and forum manager during the 1990s.

She was active with the SouthWest Writers organization and edited the SouthWest Sage newsletter. She ran her own publishing company, Herrington House Press, where she helped other writers as a coach, editor, book designer, and promoter.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother Norma Jean Rankin and her father William Pryor. She is survived by her children Pamela Herrington-Moriarty (partner Sean Moriarty) and Kenneth Herrington (partner Michelle Dunn), granddaughter Addison Herrington, former partner Patrick Herrington, brothers Dale Rankin and Dave Rankin, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Donations can be made to the Animal Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
