Maria Roybal Obituary (2021) – Santa Fe, NM

MARIA ELISA A. ROYBAL
Maria Elisa A. Roybal, 86, from Santa Fe died on August 27, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on June 22, 1935 in León, Guanajuato. Elisa graduated from Comercial Bancaria in 1953, where she studied accounting. She also taught religion at the Minerva Academy in León.
She met her husband Edward F. Roybal in Mexico City, where they fell in love and were married in 1966. They lived together in Santa Fe for 52 years.
Elisa was a great cook and baker. Her family was everything to her, and she always loved family celebrations. Her door was always open in her house, where you could feel the love and comfort that only she could give.
Elisa leaves behind her daughter Elisa (Bruno), her three grandchildren Abraham (Amanda), Erika, Julia, her great-grandson Achilles, her brother Juan Manuel Ruiz (Lucy), sister-in-law Domitila Clokey, her close friend Sarita Ponce, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. Roybal, her parents Juan Manuel and Macrina Ruiz Lopez and her sister Cristina Vargas Ruiz.
Many thanks to Martina Flores, your caretaker, who not only looked after her, but also made her love.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 28th, in the Cristo Rey Church. The rosary will be at 9:30 am followed by mass; Burial at the National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
