Marjorie “Margie” Lee (Johnson) Peterson

Marjorie “Margie” Lee (Johnson) Peterson, 82 years old, was born on March 11, 1938 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Erick Albin and Anna Clara (Gallagher) Johnson. She died peacefully in Kaysville, Utah on February 15, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

After her early childhood in Victor, Colorado, Margie and her family moved to Farmington, New Mexico, where she spent most of her life, always with her brother Erick and his wife Naomi Johnson and their brother Jim and his wife Jackie Johnson. She was a cheerleader at Farmington High and attended the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque, where she earned a degree in business administration. After graduation, she married her first husband, high school boyfriend Darrell Lee, and they spent a few years in Southern California and raised a family, then for a few more years in Houston, Texas. After moving back to Farmington with her two children Melissa and Stephen, Margie met her sweetheart Gerald “Jerry” Peterson in 1975 and married him. Margie enjoyed a fulfilling career in Farmington, serving as Chief Administrative Assistant for Manuel Hastings Industrial Coatings for more than 20 years.

More than anything, Margie and Jerry loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and spent many wonderful evenings and weekends at softball games, concerts, plays and family get-togethers. During the retirement years, they also enjoyed working weekly at Connelly Hospitality House, which serves cancer patients and their families, where Margie and Melissa continued to work after Jerry’s death in 2015. Margie is considered a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and sister. to be remembered friend and for her kind heart and her warm smile.

Her husband Jerry Peterson, stepson Timothy Peterson, brother Erick Johnson Jr., nephew Erick Johnson III, and great-nephew Bryan Sutton preceded in death. Margie leaves brother Jim Johnson (Jackie), sister-in-law Naomi Johnson, children Stephen Lee (Elaine), Melissa Lee, Kelly Murray (Mike), Wayne Peterson (Carrie), daughter-in-law Rhonda Peterson, grandson Ceara, Dana, Jered, Melanie, Tyler, Cambri, Whitney, Aaron, Brianna, Victoria and Josh, great-grandchildren Adryanna, Kalan, Ruby, Hazel, Ellie, Emilio, Conner and Luke, niece Jennana and nephews Bill, Jared and Victor, wonderful Peterson in-laws and extended family and numerous friends.

The service will take place on March 9, 2021 in the Sacred Heart Church in Farmington from 9.30 a.m. with the laudation and the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend a rosary service that begins at 9 a.m. Honorable Pallbearers will be Victor Johnson, Jared Johnson, Bill Sutton, Tyler Peterson, Jered Murray, Aaron Lee and Joshua Lee.

The family has asked you to consider donating flowers to Connelly Hospitality House at the San Juan Regional Medical Center.
