New Mexico Bowl comeback boosts Albuquerque’s economy

A New Mexico tradition is back after a year off. The New Mexico Bowl brought the crowds back to the land of enchantment UTEP and the state of Fresno faced each other at University Stadium. With the bowl relocated to Texas last year, the comeback is good for Albuquerque’s economy. Damian Lara, Albuquerque Economic Development Director said, “Part of that is that our tourism is essential to Albuquerque’s sustainable economy.” In recent years, the bowl has seen nearly 25,000 people. Lara said, “This equates to approximately $ 2 billion in sales that will flow into the city and employ approximately 44,000 people in the hospitality and tourism industries.
