New Mexico prepares vaccination rollout for children

Chase Golightly of KOB 4 spoke to the New Mexico Department of Health following this final CDC signature. They said children could have their first injection this week.

That means from Wednesday – when these dates have already been taken. Deliveries of the Pfizer vaccine specifically for children ages 5-11 have been shipped to pharmacies and pediatricians in New Mexico.

188,000 children in New Mexico can now be vaccinated. While many have already signed up, for large vaccination clinics, the NMDOH said, as people saw when the COVID-19 vaccine first came out – this is expected to begin next week.

“The Department of Health will begin running some major vaccination events across the state next week. I know there are already some planned in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Las Cruces, ”said David Morgan, NMDOH spokesman.

Dr. Melissa Mason of the Pediatric Society of New Mexico said her office receives calls every day from parents asking about vaccinations for their children. And now she is thrilled that the time has finally come.

If you would like to enroll your children for the vaccine now, you can contact your local pharmacy or pediatrician. You can also schedule them by going to Impfnm.org.
