OU 9th Through 36 Holes at Albuquerque Regional

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Oklahoma women’s golf concluded the second round of the NCAA Albuquerque Regional at The Championship Course at UNM and remains in ninth (26-over, 602).

“We struggled with the start of our round and couldn’t shake things off,” said Oklahoma women’s golf head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “We have one more day to fight and play for ourselves to finish strong.”

Hannah Screen (2-over 74) led the Sooners for the second consecutive day and is tied for 12th heading into the final round. Screen opened her round five over through her first eight holes and ended the back nine with a birdie. The London, England product dropped back-to-back birdies to start the front nine and recorded a string of seven consecutive pars to end her round. She is 1-over through the first 36 holes.

Mihaela Fortuna tied Screen for the team lead with three birdies in the second round. Fortuna recorded her first birdie of the day on 18 and finished the back nine 4-over 40 to match Screen. She dropped another stroke on the second hole and recovered with birdies on the fifth and ninth holes. Fortuna is tied for 39th and fired a 3-over 75.

Libby Winans and Maria Fernanda Martinez each recorded the best score by a Sooner on the back nine (2-over, 38). Winans enters the final round tied for 44th and recorded a 5-over 77 in the second round. Martinez finished the round 6-over 78 and is tied for 59th.

Meagan Winans joined Screen and Fortuna as Sooners with multiple birdies in the second round, recording back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes. M. Winans is tied for 61st and recorded a 5-over 77 in the second round.
