Police are looking for tips on the Albuquerque shooting after the Walmart altercation

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Police are soliciting information they may have from the public after a man was shot in the leg after leaving a Walmart in northeast Albuquerque. Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers reports that a man was involved in a verbal altercation at Walmart on Carlisle Blvd on June 28, 2021. and Claremont Avenue.

As the man and his colleague left the store, they noticed a red Chevy Cobalt following them. Authorities say the passenger of the red Chevy Cobalt was recognized as the same unidentified man who was involved in the verbal altercation and was also accompanied by two unidentified women.

The male victim drove to a neighborhood near Indian School Road. and Stanford Dr. trying to dodge the cobalt. Realizing that the vehicle had stopped following him, the victim left the neighborhood and approached Indian School Road. when he saw the Cobalt parked on a nearby street.

Authorities report that as the victim drove past the vehicle, the male passenger drew a pistol and fired two shots at him. One of the bullets hit the victim in the left lower leg. The victim was transported to the UNMH and treated there for his injuries.
