Rath reveals NM State’s indoor and outdoor track and field fixtures for 2022

LAS CRUCES, NM – With a new head coach at the helm, NM State women’s track and field teams know exactly when and where their competitions will be held in 2022.

On Thursday afternoon, head coach Joseph Rath announced the indoor and outdoor track and field fixtures for NM State’s women’s track and field team for 2022.

With the exception of the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Championship meeting, all of the Aggies’ indoor meetings will be held in either New Mexico or Texas in 2022. To begin their first indoor track and field season since the historic 2020 campaign, the Aggies travel to Lubbock, Texas to attend Friday through Saturday, May 14-15. January to attend the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech.

Three more indoor meetings – all of which send the Aggies to Albuquerque, NM – follow the team’s indoor track and field prelude. NM State will be attending the New Mexico-hosted MLK Collegiate Invite on Saturday, January 22nd, before returning to The Duke City for the New Mexico Team Open on Saturday, January 29th.

The final NM state indoor meeting prior to the WAC Championships is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, February 4-5, at the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque. Two weeks after their last indoor meeting in the 2022 regular season, the Aggies are returning to Albuquerque to compete in the WAC Indoor Athletics Championships, which run Friday through Saturday, May 18-19. February. If Aggies make the cut for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, they will travel to the national meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, Friday through Saturday, March 11-12.

A week after the indoor championships, NM State is entering its outdoor track and field season. Tucson, Arizona, serves as the location for the first meeting of the Aggies, as they run Friday through Saturday, May 18-19. March, meet at the University of Arizona for the Willie Williams Classic.

The following week, NM State travels to San Diego, California, where the Aggies will be attending the Aztec Invitational (Thursday through Saturday, March 24-26) in San Diego State. A one-day get-together – the New Mexico Spring Invite – is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, before the team runs Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16. April travels to Los Angeles, California. In NM State, student athletes will compete in Azusa Pacific, Long Beach State, and the Mt. Sac Relays this weekend.

The NM State’s final two regular season outdoor meetings are scheduled for the final two weeks of April. A two-day run at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational (Thursday-Friday, April 21-22) in Albuquerque precedes a Saturday, April 30, at the Desert Heat Classic in Arizona.

From Thursday to Saturday, 12.-14. May, the Aggies will be in Seattle, Washington for the WAC Championships. NM State hopes to deliver Wednesday through Saturday, April 25-28. Send multiple student-athletes to the NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark., And the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Wednesday through Saturday, May 8-11. June.
