Rear-end crash critically injures unbelted passenger
High speed, loss of control and possibly intoxication seen as cause

A high-speed rear-end collision Friday night caused both vehicles to lose control and resulted in the drivers and passengers being hospitalized — one in critical condition.According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the crash happened around 11:30 pm on Montano Boulevard NW , near the intersection with Equestrian Drive NW. A silver 2002 Toyota was traveling east in the left lane when it was hit in the rear by a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro traveling at high speed.Both cars lost control, and a passenger in the Toyota, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries. The Camaro rolled over several times before hitting a cement block wall. Police said the driver was suspected of being intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing.
