Recall Alert: Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, Kia Sorento PHEV Fuel Leak

Hyundai and Kia have issued a recall for a small number of 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Kia Sorento PHEV SUVs due to a possible fuel leak. The recall affects just 326 Santa Fe PHEVs and 34 Sorento PHEVs, all built on certain dates.

Because it may be difficult to determine the build date of your own car, owners can contact Hyundai at 1-855-371-9460 or Kia at 1-800-333-4542 if they don’t wish to wait for notice of the recall in the mail.

In documents filed with federal safety regulators, the companies explain that the two SUVs, which share many parts, may have an improperly welded seam in their fuel tanks. This poses the risk of a fuel leak and possibly a fire.

Dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and replace them if necessary. Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
