Santa Fe College COVID-19 Update: 28 positive cases reported in the last week

Santa Fe College reported 28 positive cases of COVID-19 from September 21-27. There were no positive cases from employees.

There were six fewer cases reported than last week – a decrease of about 26%.

The total number of positive student cases since March 2020 is now 963, according to Santa Fe Human Resources Director Lela Frye.

The college opened 110 investigations into student cases and seven investigations into employee cases, bringing the total number of investigations opened to 3,520.

According to the report, seven students, but no employees, could have been positive on campus. This week, there was no additional exposure or dissemination in the community from positive cases on campus.

The college encourages all students, faculty, and staff to complete a daily self-assessment checklist before going to campus. No masks are required on campus, but the college strongly recommends that anyone visiting the Santa Fe property wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

The college also requires students who test positive for COVID-19, have any symptoms, or think they are in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 to fill out a confidential online form and disclose any possible exposure or positive test results .

Santa Fe launched a new vaccination incentive program on September 15th. All employees, including full-time and part-time employees, as well as all current students who have either both Pfizer vaccine, Moderna vaccine vaccine, or a Johnson & Johnson vaccine vaccine, will receive $ 60 by October 31.

During yesterday’s College Senate Executive Board meeting, President Paul Broadie II announced that 380 faculty and staff had taken advantage of the vaccine incentive.

Students can check their vaccination through Zoom or at a personal location that will be announced during the week of November 1-5 and receive the funds through their payment method set up on eSantaFe.

Employees who are vaccinated will need to schedule an appointment with Human Resources to review their vaccination status and they will receive the $ 60 incentive on their November 30th paycheck.
