Santa Fe College COVID-19 Update: 34 positive cases reported in the last week

Santa Fe College reported 34 positive cases of COVID-19 from September 14-20. Two employees and 32 students reported positive tests.

Five new cases have been reported since last week, all of them from college students – an increase of about 17%.

As of March 2020, the total number of positive cases from students is 935 and the total number of positive cases from employees is 93, according to a report by SF Human Resources Director Lela Frye.

The college initiated 111 case investigations from students and eight case investigations from staff, bringing the total number of case investigations opened since March 2020 to 3,402.

According to the report, there may have been two staff members and 10 students on campus while positive, but there was no additional exposure or community spread from positive cases on campus.

The college encourages all students, faculty, and staff to complete a daily self-assessment checklist before going to campus. No masks are required on campus, but the college strongly recommends the wearing of a mask indoors for anyone attending SF accommodation, regardless of their vaccination status.

The college also requires students who test positive for COVID-19, have any COVID-19 symptoms, or believe that they have come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19 to fill out a confidential online form and any possible exposure or a positive test to disclose results.

On September 15th, Santa Fe College launched a new vaccination incentive program. All employees, including full-time and part-time employees, as well as all current students who have received either both Pfizer vaccine, Moderna vaccine or Johnson & Johnson vaccine vaccine by October 31, will receive $ 60.

Students can check their vaccination using a zoom room or personal location that will be announced the week of November 1-5 and receive the funds through their payment method set up on eSantaFe.

Employees who are vaccinated will need to schedule an appointment with Human Resources to review their vaccination status and they will receive the $ 60 incentive on their November 30th paycheck.
