SANTA FE, NM, December 6, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA), the nonprofit that hosts the annual Santa Fe Indian Market, is pleased to announce that planning for the Centennial Santa Fe Indian Market is underway. Santa Fe Indian Market 2022 will take place on Saturday 20th August, and Sunday 21st August.

The Santa Fe Indian Market has been since 1922 North America largest and most important judged market for indigenous art. Originally focused on the indigenous art of the Southwest, the market has expanded its reach over the years to include indigenous artists from all regions of The United States and Canada.

SWAIA will also be showcasing its very first Art Indigenous: a contemporary art exhibition featuring sculpture, painting, photography, installation and performance from worldwide galleries that feature indigenous artists The United States and Canada. The four-day art exhibition will take place on Santa Fes El Museo Cultural, located in Santa Fes Art District Railway. The show begins with a VIP opening party on Thursday, August 18th.

The Santa Fe Indian Market, which started as a weekend art market, has grown into an indigenous art mecca that has been adopted by Santa Fes Top galleries and cultural institutions. “2022 will be like no other for indigenous art collectors and visitors Santa Fe. the City of Santa Fe is celebrating our centenary and many of the leading galleries and institutions produce indigenous content year-round and produce shows by top indigenous artists, “said the executive director of SWAIA Kim Peone (Colville Confederated Tribes / Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians).
