Santa Fe Irrigation District earns budget award

For the 14th consecutive year, the Santa Fe Irrigation District received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget year 2022. The award is presented by the Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA), an organization that represents public finance officials who are committed to promoting of excellence in public finance.

“A strong financial position is critical to our business and demonstrates not only our commitment to our community, but also the vision and values ​​of the organization,” said Michael Hogan, President of the SFID Board of Directors, in a press release. “GFOA recognition is an honor and the decisions of our board of directors and our employees to manage our finances responsibly and consider sustainable investments will benefit our installers in the years to come.”

The award reflects the commitment of the SFID board of directors and staff to meet the highest principles of government budgeting and the specific guidelines of the GFOA. The guidelines are designed to assess how well a company’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operational guide, and communication device.

The budget document of the SFID is prepared annually starting in winter with the approval of the board in June with several opportunities for public review. SFID staff have already started the budget review for the next fiscal year, taking into account current drought conditions and inflationary pressures.
