SANTA FE PRO MUSICA News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Pro Musica (SFPM) Board of Trustees has announced that eminent musician and Pro Musica’s co-founder Carol Redman has been appointed music director to manage the 2022–23 Season and plan the 2023–24 Season.

Redman will guide and support the Board of Trustees, along with the executive director and a newly established musicians advisory council, in creating the post-founder structure that will best serve the mission and continued success of the organization.

During her 40+ year tenure with Pro Musica, Redman has contributed to the organization in many roles: principal flutist, music librarian, orchestra manager, educator, and stage manager. Redman is celebrated as one of this season’s Women of Distinction honorees.

I have worked for Pro Musica since one day, doing whatever needed to be done, and as a result knowing firsthand the intricacies of the industry, this organization, and our musicians,” Redman said. “I grew up in Las Cruces and have deep roots in New Mexico and the Santa Fe community. I am honored to be appointed Music Director as my grand finale with Pro Musica and will work in partnership with our executive director Andréa Cassutt, our staff, our board, and on behalf of our musicians. I am excited and prepared for this journey.”

Pro Musica’s four-decade history provides a solid foundation and a launchpad for innovation. The musician’s advisory council includes professional musicians engaged in the Santa Fe community, with networks of national and international colleagues, and passionate about Pro Musica’s unique artistic vision. The group is meeting bi-monthly to develop a recommendation to the board and a plan for collaborative artistic direction tailored to Pro Musica’s mission, structure, and values.

“Carol brings a varied and unique skill set that has long been an asset for Pro Musica and we are grateful for her experience and dedication. Having always supported our artistic vision and excellence from the wings, it’s exciting to see her step into the role of Music Director and I am honored to work with her,” Cassutt said.
