Sooners 9th at Albuquerque Regional

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Oklahoma women’s golf concluded the opening round of the Albuquerque Regional ninth (11-over, 299) at The Championship Course at UNM.

“We have a lot of golf left and must play well tomorrow,” said Oklahoma women’s golf head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “All the scores are bunched up together but in team golf, anything can happen.”

The Sooners were led by Hannah Screen, who tallied a 1-under 71. The senior tallied a birdie on the par-5, 490-yard 14th hole and finished her day with 17 pars.

Libby Winan’s matched screen and finished the front nine with nine pars. The Richardson, Texas product recorded a pair of birdies on the back nine and finished her round 3-over 75.

Maria Fernanda Martinez opened the day with two birdies in her first three holes and was even after a bridie on the sixth. She finished the front nine even and led the team with four birdies. Martinez enters the second round tied for 47th (5-over, 77).

Mikhaela Fortuna finished the first nine 2-over 38 and dropped her lone birdie of the round on the ninth. She dropped another stroke to open the back nine and settled in with four straight pars. Fortuna ended her round tied for 39th (4-over, 76).

Meagan Winans (T57 | 7-over 79) opened her day with a birdie and dropped her second on the 14th. The freshman finished her day with three straight pars.
