Squatters take over the Albuquerque house for weeks while the owner is away

The homeowner realized something was wrong when he couldn’t access his security cameras from his phone. The squatters ripped the security system off the wall and actually cut the cables to disable it.

The homeowner’s mother went to check the house after the security cameras were turned off.

“I drove in through the back driveway and there was a person with the door open, the lock broken, and I asked what he was doing and he said, ‘I live here,'” she said.

In her son’s kitchen, the squatter cooked food on the stove. She told him to call the police.

“He said to me, ‘Call the police, I’ll finish eating.”

The suspect was taken into custody, but before leaving he issued a warning – he said he would be back.

The homeowner’s mother said her son had given up and asked her not to return to the house for fear of her safety.

The homeowner plans to sell the home and start over.

The man arrested at the apartment was identified as Levi Monje. According to police reports received by KOB 4, when he was first arrested, he told officers that he was God and sensed witchcraft in the house. Then, less than two weeks later, he was back home and arrested again – all in the clothes of the homeowner.
