After days of declining new cases of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health released a troubling report on Wednesday of 1,371 additional positive test results and an 11.9 percent increased positivity rate.
The department also reported 33 more COVID-19-related deaths, including two men from Santa Fe County. Both were in their 60s and had previous health problems. One of the deaths occurred more than a month ago, according to the report. The deaths are followed by two more in the county that were reported Tuesday, a man and a woman.
A third of the new deaths reported Wednesday were residents of Bernalillo County, one of them a woman in her twenties.
The total death toll in the state from COVID-19 is now 5,829.
Bernalillo County led the state with 407 cases on Wednesday, while Doña Ana County had 205 and Santa Fe County had 85.
In the state, 471 patients were hospitalized for treatment for COVID-19, the health department reported.
