Strong winds cause damage in Albuquerque

Strong winds are blowing through the metro on Monday as a winter storm made its way through the state. Some damage has been reported with the strong winds in Albuquerque. KOAT viewers have sent us photos of a tree that fell in the high winds early this morning in Albuquerque. The damage happened near Menaul Blvd. and san pedro dr in northeast Albuquerque.The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office says power lines have also been damaged near 5th Street and Community Lane. Those who live in the area can expect power outages. The National Weather Service reports there was a 64 mile per hour wind gust at the Albuquerque Sunport just before 11 am on Monday.
