Suspect wanted in Las Cruces shootout

Las Cruces Police officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 200 block of Desert Rose Court shortly after noon Tuesday. Upon arrival, police officers found 30-year-old Carlos Ruiz, who had suffered at least one gunshot wound, and started the first Help. Las Cruces Fire Department personnel also responded and took life-saving measures, but Ruiz succumbed to the wound.

The investigation identified Tyler Williams, 26, as a suspect and issued an arrest warrant for him. Williams is about 6 feet tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has a thin physique. Tyler Williams was last seen leaving the scene in an older two-tone Ford Explorer with the New Mexico tag BACK70 on it. The public is warned not to approach Williams or the suspicious vehicle if it is seen and call 911 as it is considered armed and dangerous.
