SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday groundbreaking dates for the Farmington New Mexico Temple and the Lindon Utah Temple.
The Church will break ground on the Lindon Utah Temple on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Elder Kevin W. Pearson, of the Quorum of the Seventy, and Utah Area President, will preside at the event.
The Lindon Utah Temple will be located near 800 East and Center Streets in Lindon. According to a Church press release, the three-story structure will be roughly 81,000 square feet.
The groundbreaking for the Farmington New Mexico Temple will be a week later on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Elder Anthony D. Perkins of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside at the event.
According to the Church press release, the Farmington New Mexico Temple will be built on a 6.62-acre site located at the intersection of College Boulevard and Windsor Drive. The single-story structure will be roughly 25,000 square feet. It will also have a meeting house on site.
The Farmington New Mexico is the second temple in the state of New Mexico. The Albuquerque New Mexico Temple was dedicated in March 2000.
Attendance to both groundbreaking ceremonies will be by invitation only.
The Lindon Utah Temple was announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson in October 2020. The Farmington New Mexico Temple was announced six months later in April 2021, also by President Nelson.
