Texas-based company brings faster internet and hundreds of jobs to Albuquerque

“After construction, we will have approximately 150 customer care, sales, engineer and installer jobs here on site,” said Jim Gleason, President and CEO of Vexus Fiber.

Gleason said the 10 gigabit fiber network will be city-wide, providing high-speed direct internet access for homes and businesses.

“So we can offer better speeds, faster speeds, better throughput, and an overall better broadband experience,” he said.

Gleason said the pandemic highlighted the need for fast and reliable internet service as many started working and studying from home.

“For the most part, the entire Internet in the United States has really done it, but there have been a lot of places where the networks have been congested and so on, and really that’s why we’re here to really build a new network from the ground up and Also gives consumers a real “choice in broadband,” Gleason said.

The network is expected to be ready by 2024, but it will be available in some parts of the city from next year. Vexus said the cost will be similar to what other internet service providers are currently charging.
