The tradition of hanging the UNM’s Greens returns to campus

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – To keep the tradition alive, the University of New Mexico’s annual Hanging of the Greens returns in person on Friday, December 3, 2021. In a press release the UNM announced that the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of the UNM bookstore.

During the Hanging of the Greens, guests can take a self-guided tour of the campus adorned with over 13,000 luminarias. Additionally, visitors to the Zimmerman Library can sing along to Christmas carols, enjoy biscochitos, hot cocoa and posole, and see a free showing of It’s a Wonderful Life at the SUB Theater.

UNM needs decorators for the event. The UNM Mortar Board Association is seeking help from several student organizations on campus.
