Therese Elizabeth Goetz

Therese Elizabeth Goetz went to the Lord peacefully in her sleep in her home on April 28, 2022, after a long battle with non-smoker’s lung cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ronald Lipinski; daughter Valerie Lipinski and husband Dustin Allen; sister Dorothy Brokaw; brothers John Goetz and wife Linda, Fritz Goetz, Eric Goetz and wife Sonia, James Goetz, and wife Lauriann; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Therese was a member of Saint John XXIII Catholic Community in Albuquerque, where she was a lector and sang in the choir. She was active in organizing and providing Ministry to the Sick for local assisted living and memory care facilities. Her resilient faith and compassion to others was inspiring. Therese also found great joy and satisfaction as a volunteer tutor for first graders in reading through Oasis of Albuquerque. She was a superb cook and enjoyed gardening, hiking, and visiting her extended family on the East Coast.

Therese received her BA degree in psychology with High Honors from Douglass College, NJ, and her MA and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL. It was at the University of Illinois that she met her husband. She and Ron moved to Albuquerque in 1977 so she could teach and pursue research at UNM. Therese also was a part-time consultant in organizational psychology from 1980 to 1992. After raising two beautiful daughters, she earned a Master’s degree in public health with distinction from UNM in 2001 with a concentration in epidemiology.
