Transfer requests for 2022-2023 will be accepted starting January 1st – Albuquerque Public Schools

Sent: December 13, 2021

Transfer requests for 2022-2023 will be accepted from January 1st

Submit an online application or visit the APS Student Service Center starting January 3rd.

Families who would like their child to attend an APS school outside of their assigned classroom area in the years 2022-2023 can apply for a transfer online from 01/01/2022.

Inquiries can also be made at the Student Service Center on the first floor of the Albuquerque Public Schools Administration Building, 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE from January 3rd. Upon successful submission of an online transfer application, families should receive a confirmation number.

Parents need to know each student’s ID number if they are currently an APS student or have ever attended an APS school.

If a student does not have an APS ID number, parents will need to create a ParentVUE account or add the additional child to their existing account. Instructions on how to create a ParentVUE account can be found on the APS Transfers website. As soon as an ID number has been generated, a transfer application can be submitted.

The first window for transfer requests runs until January 31st.

Transfers are granted based on space and program available, using a random selection process (lottery) and a priority system based on district, state, and federal requirements.

Transfers are not made according to the first-come-first-served principle; Inquiries are processed in each transfer window as they were received on the same day.

Students currently on an approved transfer will not need to reapply unless they switch schools. Pupils who switch from elementary school to middle school or middle school to grammar school must, however, apply for a transfer if they want to attend a school outside of their assigned area.

For more information, call the APS Student Service Center at 505-855-9050 or 855-9040 or send an email to [email protected].
